Review of The Routledge Companion to Music Cognition.

Reviews the book, The Routledge Companion to Music Cognition edited by Richard Ashley and Renee Timmers (2017). This edited collection is an essential reading for those who are interested in exploring the complex relationship between mental life and music. Ashley and Timmers put together an impressive number of interdisciplinary scholars that look at science and humanities, technology and culture, and theory and practice with the same excellent rigor and enthusiasm. In light of its interdisciplinary breadth, the volume provides the reader with the conceptual resources necessary to engage with novel findings, to assess previous research, and–more importantly–to pose new questions that may inspire future research and theory.
